Rosatom, the largest power generating company in the Russian Federation.

CHALLENGE

Develop an Investment Program Management System that would enable:

automation of the customer's investment program workflow (planning, implementing and monitoring)
collection and consolidation of reports from regional offices
generating ad-hoc reports for investment program indicators analysis
creation of single information space available to all users

The system also had to be able to operate remotely, in accordance with the customer’s complex security policies.

INVESTMENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

Choice of tools
Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Analysis Services (SSAS) was chosen as the basis for the system.
The requirement for access to information at all times by all users determined using Microsoft Internet Information Services. Ranet OLAP Pivot Table was chosen as the data analysis module due to its capability of supporting modification of multidimensional data in SSAS using a web browser.

Solution
Our team developed an investment management system that provided seamless processing of all requests and reports coming into the system, control over the document flow, and analysis of the designated investment program indicators.
We also designed additional services for system adaptation, which help users customize the system according to their requirements without having any knowledge or hands-on experience in programming.
The managers were given a personal workplace (the dashboard) with interactive maps for analysis and monitoring of the main investment program indicators, thus getting an opportunity to perform quick analysis of the program at any time. The solution also ensures access to the information from any location at any time while maintaining the necessary level of security.

RESULT

The quality of output data was improved, while the cost of preparation, analysis, and approval of plans and reports was significantly decreased. The introduction of interactive dashboards helped to speed up the decision-making and improve analysis of complex conditions by the program managers.
