Navigation Item Access Permissions, All or nothing

it seems that for Navigation Item Access Permissions for some role in Xafari Security it is possible to select only main nodes. all "leafs" are either true or false.
If I try to unselect one of leafs whole branch is not active. Pictures nicely demonstrate this:

Picture 1, whole branch is selected.
Picture 2, one of the leafs is unselected (it is visible that root is also immediately unselected)
Picture 3, after Save button is clicked whole branch is unselected.

So, usability of highly needed feature is unfortunately compromised
